This holiday weekend is all I'm looking for. Rainy, misty days--fall is coming, finally. There's something about the end of summer; that wistful lingering heat giving way to cool evenings. While the birds take off for warmer parts, I look forward to nesting. Everything points to home in the fall--putting up the firewood, gathering in the harvest, slow cooking chili on the stove. Last year Greg and the kids and I skipped church one Sunday, hiked the woods and made leaf art a la Andy Goldsworthy. There's a weekend coming up in southern Indiana with the girls, sweaters to shake out, and even a few football games on the to do list to see my girl play percussion with the high school band. All of it fall. I smile.
