I'm looking for ways to wrap my arms around the present moment. It seems my salvation lies in this eternal Christ-moment. It is an easier thing to learn with six weeks of vacation behind me, three to more to go. So I set myself mundane tasks, twigs in the yard, mowing the lawn, to practice mindfulness. (Mowing lawns is great for this kind of thing.) But when I face a friend or stranger, I forget the present moment as we speak of memories and plans. So that is the task before me--living in the eternal now in even the smallest turn of conversation, in the passing smile of a stranger.
