"I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away..."~King Crimson
The wind blew last night and it's all I could hear. I loved it. I love the wind. I always took it for granted until a few years ago when our high school exchange student hurried in from a particularly blowy day with wide eyes. "What is happening?!?" she cried, hands over her ears. "It's the wind," I said, "blowing in a front." Arriving from a temperate country, she had never heard the likes. And I realized what a gift we have. After reexamining this concept one peculiarly green day, huddled in a basement shelter as a hurricane roared outside, the conclusion remained the same. I wish it would talk to me, but it just blows away.
