“Jacob shall see what my hands
have done in his midst: he shall hold
my name holy.” Isaiah 29:23

...in the Gospels Jesus does not set about cleaning up
the world – he gathers no armies, launches no war, kills
no enemies. He sets about healing the world: he
touches the eyes of the blind men. “Jacob shall see
what my hands have done in his midst: he shall hold
my name holy.” Isaiah’s prophecy comes to an
unexpected fulfilment: the holiness of God is seen in
Jesus’ healing, not in the destruction of evil-doers.
