This is what it's like to be gone almost two weeks straight and to come back to a life that never stopped while you were gone. It means movies the family watched without you. It means other parents not understanding why you aren't as committed as they are to all the activities at church. It means laundry the single parent husband couldn't get to because he was doing all the kid activities over the weekend. It means being tired and bewildered as to why you can't catch up because you should be able to do it all, right? It means a sense of being lost for a couple of days. It means resentment that work goes on, even though you've put in double time or more for the past few weeks. It means a question about a job that you thought wasn't going to take over your life but it seems like it is. It means not looking forward to the one cool thing, beads in the jail, because there's too much other catch-up stuff going on.

It will get better. A day off would be nice.
