This must be the first day in weeks where the sun isn't shining. But the leaves are brilliant under cloudy skies and light up the landscape. The weekend had its peculiar mixture of relaxing and rushing around to visit. I went to a church in my hometown and found myself absolutely homesick for life there. A city, where culture occurs every day--two art museums, plays every weekend, music and coffee houses. Weekend football games at Notre Dame and the rhythm surrounding them throughout the fall. Chicago a mere ninety minutes away. The lake half that far. Lots of opportunities for the kids in school and out. They'd be little fish in a big pond and I think it would suit one of them very well. Sigh. You can't always get what you want.
