i'm already looking for crocuses. one day it's spring and the next winter. in the mornings i smile when the sun shines through the glass.
hectic life. it's about work and more work. i talk to my beautiful friends when i can but most of the time these days i'm at my desk.
last week i did get to spend time in the jail. my young friend, mother of three, abandoning her kids to lead the life of drugs and excess, speaks of her regret at her mistakes, but i think i hear longing in her voice when she talks about drugs. were those the good old days, i wonder? will she adjust well after more than a year incarcerated?
and my other friend of many years went to a federal courthouse to enter an appeal. through mistaken planning, i missed his day in court. i regret this. i've had no word from him yet. it may be a few weeks before any decision is made.
here's what i know--i must be one of the luckiest people. i'm never cold or hungry. my kids are sheltered and protected. there's always transportation. the paychecks roll in. i complain a lot, but really i have all i ever wanted.
